Kids Can Match - Animals

Younger grades are learning about animals, how they look and how to pronounce their names so an app like Kids Can Match-Animals (Match Animals) they can not only learn the look, but also the name of animals and their sounds.  When you open the app you can start a matching game right away.  If you got o settings you can change the size of the matching card grid as well as the sounds and grid style.  When you start finding matches you can click on a card and the animal on the other side will make a noise.  This happens with each card.  You can also see the name of the animal displayed at the bottom of the page and if you tap on the name is pronounces it through the speaker.  There is a timer running to see how fast it takes to complete a grid.
This app would be fun for a younger student to use because it is a game!  With most matching games  you play with multiple people, but with this app the student plays on their own which can be beneficial to their own learning.  It shows vibrant, colorful pictures which can attract the students to the game as well.
I loved playing matching games when I was a child and I will never forget this one game that I absolutely loved.  It had to do with child safety so It showed different signs like stop signs, poison signs, chemical signs, and danger signs.  Not only did I learn what these safety tips were, I also had fun playing it.  Matching is such a good way to subconsciously help students learn new information.
This app could be useful in a classroom to play as an extra time activity, a fun hook for a lesson on animals, or could even be used as a formative assessment.  The way it could be used as an assessment could be by having a student play one of the games in front of you and turning the sound off so they have to pronounce the name of the animals by just seeing the pictures.  You could also play this on the board and have students guess what animal is being shown by their noises too.
